Your Experience: FAQs from our guests

What should I expect?

First of all, relax. You won’t find anything crazy going on, and you will not be embarrassed or singled out in an embarrassing way. We want you to hear biblical truth and truly meet with God.

What are the services like?

You will find the services positively exalt Jesus Christ and lift up those who come with our ministry of music and the ministry of the Word in preaching ministering to your heart while reflecting our God’s character. You will find clear, straightforward exposition of Scriptural truth with a variety of conservative music that draws glory to God.

What are the people like?

We are just people—people from all walks of life, ages, backgrounds, experiences, races, and life’s challenges who gather to hear from God. If your looking for perfect people you will be disappointed, but if you are looking for people who want to genuinely know God, you will be right at home.

What should I wear?

Most of our people will wear their “Sunday Best” as an expression of respect for our glorious God, but our desire is for people to truly know God so come seek the Lord with us. Believe us, we are more concerned about you than what you wear.

Are the morning services different from each other?

Yes and no. Here is what is the same in both morning services: Clear Bible preaching, God-exalting conservative music and a nursery ministry is provided. Here is what is different: In addition to our church family, we open our doors to homeless men and women from our partner agency the Chattanooga Rescue Mission for the 8:15 service. Choir, Children’s Worship, Children’s Church, and Deaf Interpreting ministries take place only in the 10:30 service.

What should I do with my kids?

For children two years old or younger, a well-staffed nursery is available located conveniently near the auditorium. Children three years old and above join our families as we worship our God together. For all the kids, there is a Children’s Worship ministry in the 10:30 service in which Pastor involves the children in an object lesson. (By the way, Pastor Baughman doesn’t know what ‘s in the box!) Children ages 3-5 will be dismissed during the last congregational song for children’s church while older children share with the family in worship.

What About Sunday School?

At 9:30 we have age appropriate classes for children as well as adults. Greeters will help you find the appropriate class.

The Next Step

We believe in a membership commitment to the local church for all born-again believers (1 Corinthians 12). A forty-five minute membership class is held one Sunday each month in the Pastor’s office during Sunday School. You can learn about what we believe, where we are going, and be able to ask any questions that you may have as you consider God’s will. We want people to make an informed commitment to Stanley Heights. Check the bulletin for the next class.
